Day 38 - 13th March

Port Lincoln - Cummings Monument Lookout - Locks Well - Elliston

Today begin our discovery of the west coast of the Eyre Peninsular. Port Lincoln to Elliston is a long drive with no towns in between. Only twice does the road come close to the coast. The first is at a site call the Cummings Memorial. This is memorial to Leo Cummings who was lost at sea from a fishing trawler 1959 off the coast nearby...

A few kilometres further along is a restored old building called the "Lake Hamilton Eating House" a roadhouse/cafe from travellers built in 1857.

img

Locks Well is another coastal lookout not far south of Elliston. The coast line has changed dramatically from the last lookout.

Ceduna - Penong - Ceduna

Ceduna is a service town. It is on the main transport link from the east to west coast both road and rail. The place is full of travellers and semi-trailers...

Our first stop today is at the Bridgestone Tyres to replace the motorhomes front tyres. After just 22,000km they are worn out...

With new tyres fitted we are headed west to Penong from there toward Point Sinclair to photograph a pink lake and more sand dunes.

A family size pizza with a massive amount of toppings that cost $36, but was so big it made three meals for the two of us. And it was great fresh and reheated. Bill’s Pizza is on the “never to be past” list ..
