6.30am still dark and the ferry is ready for it’s first trip of the day to Kangaroo Island (KI as the locals call it)…

John backs the motorhome onto ferry without ,making a fool of himself in front of truckies…

3/4 of an hour later and it is almost daylight as we arrive into the Penneshaw ferry terminal on KI…

We stopped for breakfast on a hill overlooking Penneshaw. Later we go to have a look around Kingscote the largest town on KI. From there it is onto Emu Beach...

Our caravan park is in the south west corner of the Island. It has been completely rebuilt since the fires that devastated 42% of KI in January 2020. Thankfully the environment is recovering well and the wildlife is returning...

We tear ourselves away from the antics of the seals and head back the motorhome. The crowds are just starting to arrive…

Our next stop is the Remarkable Rocks. We were not expecting much but we were surprised...

Day 53 - 28th March

Kangaoroo Island - (American River - Redbanks - Penneshaw) - Cape Jervis

Last day ln KI today. Birds were out in force at the caravan park before we left...

Heading back to Penneshaw. We are booked on the last ferry for the day at 7.00pm. Our first stop will be a place called Red Banks. To get there we need to travel down an ever narrowing, rough gravel road...

Finally we arrive back to the caravan park at Cape Jervis about 8.30pm. Luckily we stayed here on the way over and we knew which site we would be on, so it wasn't too hard to navigate in the dark. Also retrieved the bottle of honey we had hidden before we left for the island ...
